Welcome to my Blog

I think so far for this class I am learning a lot of stuff that I haven't really focused on. So far learning a lot about different websites and what they are used for. I think it is interesting to see what they can do and how they can help me in the future. I never really thought about all these websites as being a tool to use. This class is making me want to experience different sites and see what they have to offer. I am excited to see what this class had to offer and the different websites we will continue to try out. I don't really know if I will use all of them but it might be interesting to see how they interact with the websites I already use daily.

Family Expectations vs. Reality          As viewed on TV families are seen as loving and playful. In the public eye, families are seen as in a way as perfect. They are often seen as the stereotypical family where the mother cooks and takes care of the children while the dad has a job. But this is unrealistic, families are often not happy and cheerful all the time and rarely do they depict that on TV. Often times they try to show the struggles families go through but in often times many people can't relate because they go through something much deeper.          Even though sometimes families separate they never show what it is like for the child and how messy divorces can actually get. They often don't show the struggle the family goes through that is actually realistic. I just think in general in the media we need to really talk about the struggles. In this week after thinking about so much Sherry Turkle said I realize how much time I spend on my phone. With Apple coming out with this new update, it lets you know how much time you actually spend on your phone. This surprised me the most because I clearly didn't think I spent the much time on my phone. So I decided let's talk about it and let me give you the break down on what is really going on.  This tells you that today alone I spent close to 3 hours on my phone which I thought was surprising. This tells you that I pick up my phone at least 5 times an hour and how many notifications I received today. Which considering how much I usually get that is a lot less. I am also noticing a trend that my most used app is Instagram. I might have to delete the app for a while just so I don't feel so dependent on it.  This shows you that within a week I have used my phone for almost 7 hours every day. I thought about this post I would talk about why everyone should get a dog. Speaking as a dog lover dogs are better than humans. I have 2 dogs Gia and Ella they are both rescue dogs and I love them so much. It's gotten to the point where I used to post them all the time on my social media accounts and some of my friends mention that I don't post myself enough. Which when I decided to make them there own Instagram. Most because these dogs are so photogenic and I swear they know it which is why they stop and pose every time I have my phone in my hand. Dogs give you more love and loyalty better than any human can. In a way, dogs are like babies they can't speak but they let you know when they have to go to the bathroom and when they are hungry... well at least my dogs do. This post thought about talking about why I use the platforms of social media I do. As far as Social media I only use Instagram and Snapchat. As far as Instagram I like being about to post the pictures that interest me. I know there are other social platforms that you can do so but Instagram is my favorite by far. Every time I see an update I am excited to see what they made better. I like the fact that you can view other people's picture and like and comment. I feel this is also why people obsess over the app because they did not receive the same amount of likes for each picture. But personally, I don't care about those things. I use Snapchat just for the sole purpose of it's more of an everyday app. I also just think the filters are fun to use. This isn't to say that I post of either of these apps every day. So far everything has worked great for me the only thing I couldn't figure out was how to change the background picture. So I ended up putting my picture in the sidebar. But it is a work in progress. This is my first time using this site so everything was new to me. I think from this blog I will post more of the things that I find interesting. And I want to explore this website more.

Hello all I thought I would take this time to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Gabrielle Campbell, I am a senior at Pace University. Currently studying Information Technology with a focus in Web and Digital Media with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. I work for the Educational Media Department at Pace so I am always in the building. I am currently looking into getting my Masters and getting a full-time job. My schedule is pretty full most days with my class and my workload. But I know that it will all pay off. As far as my life outside of school I love to travel, play with my 2 dogs, love everything sports related, and photography I believe is my hidden talent. As far as traveling I have been all over from St. Martin, Costa Rica, Spain, and so many other places. My life goal is to travel all over the world see new place, meet new people, and try new foods.
