weekly post 1

In this week after thinking about so much Sherry Turkle said I realize how much time I spend on my phone. With Apple coming out with this new update, it lets you know how much time you actually spend on your phone. This surprised me the most because I clearly didn't think I spent the much time on my phone. So I decided let's talk about it and let me give you the break down on what is really going on.

This tells you that today alone I spent close to 3 hours on my phone which I thought was surprising.
This tells you that I pick up my phone at least 5 times an hour and how many notifications I received today. Which considering how much I usually get that is a lot less. I am also noticing a trend that my most used app is Instagram. I might have to delete the app for a while just so I don't feel so dependent on it.

This shows you that within a week I have used my phone for almost 7 hours every day. See this stat I realized how much more I could be using that time for something else and again my most used app is Instagram which I almost spent an entire day looking. This really puts into perspective on what I spend my time doing.

On average this shows you how many times a day I pick up my phone. And this also shows you on a typical day the average amount of notifications I receive. I think this also puts into perspective on why I tend to use Instagram so often is because that is where I receive most of my notifications from.

This really brings me back to what Sherry Turkle said about how we let technology control our life. After finding out how much I am on my phone it really makes me want to be on it less and live in the moment more. I think my goal now is to see if I can get all these numbers down and experience things without always having my phone on me. So stay tune for my next post to find out.
